Mountaire Farms of North Carolina
In 1996, Piedmont Poultry in Lumber Bridge, North Carolina was purchased and named Mountaire Farms of North Carolina. This company was also expanded and the assets substantially upgraded. A new feedmill was built in Candor, North Carolina. The hatchery near Siler City, North Carolina, was expanded and updated; the processing plant in Lumber Bridge was updated and substantially expanded, including the addition of a further processing facility. This operation also produces high quality retail, wholesale and export products. The further processing division produces value-added products such as pre-marinated boneless skinless chicken fillets, marinated roasters and Sizzlin' Sensation Meal Kits for retail supermarkets. Contract growers in the Candor, to Lumber Bridge area grow the live chickens for these operations.
