April 2013 Caesar Rodney’s Max Wilt is finishing up an impressive high school career both in the class room and on the field. A three sport varsity letterman that ranks 4th in his class academically, Max easily stood out from his peers as deserving of the WBOC/Mountaire Scholar Athlete of the Month Award for April 2013. For his efforts Max will receive a crystal engraved trophy, a banner to display at his school and a $1,000 college scholarship. The WBOC/Mountaire Scholar Athlete of the Month Award is an honor reserved for those high school seniors who demonstrate excellence and leadership in three key arenas; athletics, academics and extra-curricular activities. Athletically, Max Wilt seems to do it all. Since his freshman year he has been an outstanding leader, teammate and performer in three sports; Football, Wrestling and Lacrosse. As the school year begins each Fall Max laces up his pads for the football team where he has spent time as a quarterback and wide receiver, this past season he quarterbacked his team to the Henlopen Conference Championship. Each winter for the past four years he has traded in the football field for the wrestling mat where he has finished in the top 6 of the state of Delaware twice. Come spring, Max grabs the lacrosse stick where he is among the top defenders in the state, earning 2nd Team All-Conference honors and an invitation to participate in the Blue Chip 225 Recruiting Lacrosse Camp. Academically, Max challenges himself with Advanced Placement classes in math and economics. His 98.0 cumulative GPA is good enough to rank 4th in a class of 397. He is also a member of the Math League, Latin Club and Vice-President of the Sportsmanship Club. Beyond the classroom and athletic arena Max has made an impact in the community volunteering his time at various events like Read Across America and a Trike-A-Thon that benefitted the Special Olympics. He is also the Vice-President of the Blue/Gold Club whose focus is working with mentally disabled students. "Max is an outstanding young man and a terrific ambassador for Caesar Rodney…he is a tremendous leader and role model for our students.” – Drew Hughes, Boys Lacrosse Coach For all his efforts on the field, in the classroom and in the community, Max Wilt was honored with the WBOC/Mountaire Scholar Athlete of the Month Award for April 2013. |

October 2012 The WBOC/Mountaire Scholar Athlete of the Month Award is an honor reserved for those high school seniors who demonstrate excellence and leadership in three key arenas; athletics, academics and extra-curricular activities. “I can say with confidence that Colby is a dedicated student-athlete who leads others by setting a strong example with her effort and intensity, both in the classroom and on the playing field”, says Lake Forest Softball Coach Sandi Begor. Of course it’s easy to hold Colby Wyatt in such high esteem considering she has never earned less than an “A” in any class and has lead both the field hockey and softball teams to great success during her athletic career. Academically Colby has maintained a 4.0 GPA since her freshman year. A great accomplishment by any standard, but more impressive when you consider she is taking honors and college level courses, even enrolling at Delaware Technical and Community College this semester to earn college credits. Athletically she is a top performer for the Spartan’s field hockey and softball teams. The four year varsity player is the team captain and received numerous honors in both sports that include First Team All Conference selections and Team MVP awards. Next fall she hopes to continue her softball career at the collegiate level. Not surprisingly, all the hard work in the classroom and on the field still isn’t enough to satisfy Colby’s desire to improve herself and those around her. She gives her time freely as a volunteer at area youth camps for field hockey and softball and routinely helps out at North Elementary School as part of her National Honor Society community service duties. For her outstanding achievements in the classroom and on the field, Lake Forest High School senior Colby Wyatt was honored as the WBOC/Mountaire Farms Scholar Athlete of the Month for October 2012. |

September 2012: Mountaire Farms is pleased to announce Josh Wyatt, a senior at James M. Bennett High School in Salisbury, Maryland, has been honored with the WBOC/Mountaire Scholar Athlete of the Month Award for September 2012. For his efforts, Josh was presented with a crystal engraved trophy, a banner to hang in his school and a $1,000 college scholarship. The WBOC/Mountaire Scholar Athlete of the Month Award is an honor reserved for those high school seniors who demonstrate excellence and leadership in three key arenas; athletics, academics and extra-curricular activities. Athletically, Josh has been an integral part of back-to-back Maryland 3A Baseball State Championship teams and looks to guide the Clippers to a third straight title this spring. Coupled with the 2012 championship, he was also honored as the Bayside Conference Athlete of the Year for Baseball. His tremendous season has already landed him a scholarship to play ball at James Madison University. And although his first love is baseball, Josh is equally impressive on the soccer field, running the center mid-field position since his freshman year and possessing the skill set to have continued his soccer career at the college level if he so chose. Academically, Josh has been elite as well. He currently carries a 4.32 weighted GPA and is a member of the National Honor Society, the Spanish National Honor Society and the Mu Alpha Theta Math Honor Society. When his not studying, practicing or playing, Josh has found the time to volunteer as a youth mentor for the Man-up Baseball Program and even participated in the Appalachian Service Project in 2010. For his outstanding achievements in the classroom and on the field, James M. Bennett senior Josh Wyatt was honored as the WBOC/Mountaire Farms Scholar Athlete of the Month for September 2012. |

Prior to the award ceremony, the 75 students, parents and coaches in attendance were treated to a buffet dinner and keynote address from the inventor of the Phillie Phanatic Mascot and founder of the Raymond Entertainment Group, Mr. Dave Raymond. Raymond, a graduate of the University of Delaware, developed the Phillie Phanatic, the mascot of the Philadelphia Phillies, while interning with the team as a young man fresh out of college. His unbridled enthusiasm and ultra-fun persona turned the Phanatic into a million dollar sports icon. Using that experience, Raymond created the Raymond Entertainment Group, a company that builds mascot costumes and marketing programs for sports teams and companies across the country. Throughout his keynote address he touched on the importance of having fun in your everyday life, including your career, in order to be an effective leader.
Patrick Davis has proven himself both a winner on the wrestling mat and in the classroom. Not only is he a two-time Delaware State Wrestling Champion at 145 lbs and now at 160 lbs, Patrick also boasts an impressive 3.84 un-weighted GPA.
Brie Custis has been making a difference for the Parkside Rams since arriving on campus as a wide eyed freshman, challenging herself to be the best on the field and in the classroom. Four years later she has achieved both goals and now ends her high school career knowing she was one of the best on the Delmarva Peninsula.
