The Mountaire Chickin’ Pickin’ Championship Returns to the Delaware State Fair…with a twist

Harrington, DE– The Mountaire Chickin’ Pickin’ Championship is slated to return to the FREE Entertainment Tent at the Delaware State Fair on Friday, July 20^th from 5pm to 6:30pm.  This, the 9^th installment of the event, will feature a new twist as Mountaire has partnered with 88.7 the Bridge and the Delaware State Fair to bring a little Faith and Family to Chickin’ Pickin’. Today through July 14^th 88.7 the Bridge will be registering local Youth Pastors to compete for a chance to win $500 for their church and be honored on the M&T Bank Grandstand stage in front of thousands of spectators just prior to the Casting Crowns performance that evening.  In all there will be 20 “Youth Pickin’ Pastors” competing for the $700 donation for 1^st place and $300 donation for 2^nd place.  All competitors will receive a free Chickin’ Pickin’ T-shirt.

This faith and family friendly event will ultimately pit these twenty “Pickin’ Pastors” against one another to see who can pick and shred the most meat from our oven roasted chickens in a timed, ultra competitive format. Event partner 88.7 the Bridge will be broadcasting LIVE beginning at 4pm.  To enter just visit www.887thebridge.com!  You must be 18 or older and a Pastor.

What is Chickin’ Pickin’?

In the simplest terms, our winners are determined by who can pick and shred the most meat from our oven roasted chicken(s) in a 5 minute time frame.  Contestants will have access to an unlimited amount of cooked birds, HOWEVER, they must pick and shred all the meat from a single bird before moving on to a new one.  That includes meat from the breast, thighs, legs, wings and back.  The picked meat is thrown into a collection tray, which gets weighed at end of competition to determine our winner. Contest judges are on hand to specify when a contestant’s bird is deemed fully picked, thus allowing them to start a new one.  This process will go on for the entire (5) minutes. There can be zero bones or large chunks of meat in the collection tray.  Such items will be removed before being weighed.
