Bryan Selby Named WBOC/Mountaire Scholar Athlete

Holly Grove Christians’ Bryan Selby is the big man on campus.  Not just because he towers over his peers in the hallway, but because he leads them on the athletic fields and sets a great example in the classroom and other extra-curricular activities; which is why he was honored as the WBOC/Mountaire Scholar Athlete of the Month for May 2013.   For his efforts Byran will receive a crystal engraved trophy, a banner to display at his school and a $1,000 college scholarship...For the complete story

 ATOM:  Abbey Walters Earns May Scholar Athlete Award

Abbey Walters’ softball career can be traced back to 2000 when, as a 5-year-old, she first picked up a bat, ball and glove — thereby launching a journey that has taken her talents to new heights every year since.

Mountaire Faith & Family Night 
Featuring a post-game faith concert with The Reminders and Fireworks!


The 2013 Mountaire Faith & Family Night is scheduled for Saturday, June 8th at Shorebirds Stadium in Salisbury, MD.  A portion of the proceeds from this annual event will benefit the Thanksgiving for Thousands Fund which helps feed familes in need across Delmarva each Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter.

Gates to the stadium open at 5:35pm with the first pitch set for 6:35pm.  Watch your Shorebirds take on the Lakewood BlueClaws.  Special ticket options are available.  For a

Eastern Shore Wing War: For Chestnut…208 is GREAT! 

Joey “Jaws” Chestnut, the #1 ranked eater in the world, did not disappoint in his maiden voyage to Delmarva. In the inaugural Mountaire Eastern Shore Wing War, which took place Sunday, April 21st at the Pork in the Park Festival in Salisbury, MD, twelve of the top Major League Eaters took center stage to compete for $5,000 in prize money.  For the full recap click here.

Home of the Brave Receives Better Delmarva Award

The Home of the Brave’s mission is to support America’s returning combat veterans and their families by providing a relaxing environment where they can reconnect after military service. 

Inspiration for Home of the Brave came in 2009 after a conversation between founder Tina Pearson and a friend who had served in Iraq. This Army veteran shared the difficulties of getting to know her young son again after she returned home from deployment. The soldier's story made Tina wonder what could have been done to make the transition easier. What if she offered her quiet country home as a getaway for service families to share a week of relaxing time together

Orange County Educator Earns Better Carolina Award

A passion for science and environmentalism, two things that have inspired Kim Kelleher in her work as a School Counselor at New Hope Elementary in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Over the past year Kelleher created a Junior Ranger program and led the charge to clean up and reinvigorate a local nature trail.
