Mountaire Gives

Mountaire Farms believes it is important to be a valued member of the communities in which we live, work, and pray.  We actively sponsor many events and programs designed to improve the lives of the people in our communities.  Helping others in need, promoting faith based initiatives, furthering education and preserving the environment are some of the key areas in which we focus our resources and efforts.  Listed below are some of these efforts.

The Salisbury School Green Club Earns Future Environmental Star Award

On Tuesday, February 14th representatives from Mountaire Farms and WMDT-TV presented The Salisbury School Green Club and its founder, Jessica Farlow, with the WMDT/Mountaire Farms Future Environmental Star Award. The young environmentalist has spear headed “go green” efforts at the small private school, helping launch the Terra-Cycle Program, the NIKE Reuse-A-Shoe program, the LED lighting initiative and even lead the process of getting The Salisbury School named a Maryland Certified Green School...for the full story click here

Patrick Davis Named WBOC/Mountaire Scholar Athlete of the Month

On Monday, January 9th, Mountaire Farms and WBOC kicked-off the New Year by honoring a champion.  Woodbridge High School senior Patrick Davis has proven himself both a winner on the wrestling mat and in the classroom.  Not only is he the reigning Delaware State Wrestling Champion at 145 lbs, Patrick also boasts an impressive 3.84 un-weighted GPA. Tyler Baker Earns Robesonian/Mountaire Scholar Athlete Award

He runs, jumps, flips and hits.  And when he’s not doing the aforementioned, he’s hitting the books.

His name is Tyler Baker, a three-sport senior at Purnell Swett High School who is a part of the Rams cross country, cheerleading and baseball teams. His achievements in the classroom and on the playing fields earned Baker January’s Robesonian/Mountaire Scholar Athlete of the Month award.

UMES Solar Farm Earns Environmental Star Award

In the spring of 2011 the University of Maryland Eastern Shore celebrated the unveiling of a 2.2 megawatt solar-energy facility that is now being used to help power the campus.  The impressive energy grid spans 17 acres and is comprised of 7,800 collection panels, making it the largest concentration of photovoltaic modules on one site in the state of Maryland, and among the nation’s largest on a university or college campus....

Mountaire Delivers Thanksgiving at Christmas

On Tuesday, December 20th, Mountaire Farms continued to Wage War on Hunger, Hurt and Hate by providing fresh poultry product and canned goods to area food pantries as it’s Thanksgiving for Thousands campaign moved into the second round of feeding those in need on the Delmarva Peninsula . Beginning at 8am Mountaire trucks delivered “Thanksgiving at Christmas” boxes containing the fresh poultry and assorted canned goods to assist in stocking local Food Pantries, Shelters and Food Kitchens with items to feed Delmarva’s hungry this Holiday season...for the full story click here

Mountaire Continues to Wage War on Hunger 
The 2011 Wage War on Hunger effort helps the 17th Annual Thanksgiving for Thousands program feed over 45,000 Delmarva residents in need.

The 17th Annual Mountaire Thanksgiving for Thousands program wrapped up on Monday, November 21st, when volunteers from across the Delmarva Peninsula showed up in record numbers to help pack the 6,600 Thanksgiving meal boxes the program was set to produce this year...for more info click here 

"Musick" Wins 2nd Annual Delmarva Praise & Worship Competition

An inspired effort by the praise team Musick was the stand out performance at this past Saturday’s Delmarva Praise & Worship Competition held at Epworth United Methodist Church in Rehoboth Beach, DE.  A cold and rainy day couldn’t hold down the spirit of the hundreds in attendance, as all who braved the less than ideal conditions enjoyed eight hours of spiritual music competition...
