In
1977, H & H Poultry in Selbyville, Delaware was purchased
and renamed Mountaire Farms of Delmarva, with processing,
feedmill and hatchery operations in Maryland and Delaware.
These operations were substantially updated and expanded and
today produce a wide range of high quality retail, wholesale
and export chicken products. Contract growers on the Delmarva
Peninsula grow the live chickens for these operations.

In
1996, Piedmont Poultry in Lumber Bridge, North Carolina was
purchased and named Mountaire Farms of North Carolina. This
company was also expanded and the assets substantially upgraded.
A new feedmill was built in Candor, North Carolina. The hatchery
near Siler City, North Carolina, was expanded and updated; the
processing plant in Lumber Bridge was updated and substantially
expanded, including the addition of a further processing facility.
This operation also produces high quality retail, wholesale
and export products. The further processing division produces
value-added products such as pre-marinated boneless skinless
chicken fillets, marinated roasters and Sizzlin' Sensation Meal
Kits for retail supermarkets. Contract growers in the Candor,
to Lumber Bridge area grow the live chickens for these operations.

| In
2000, the assets of Townsends Poultry in Millsboro, Delaware
were purchased along with four grain elevators located in Delaware
and Maryland. This company was named Mountaire Farms of Delaware,
Inc., and includes a processing plant, a hatchery and a feedmill
all located on 2000 acres near Millsboro, Delaware. The company
produces additional volume to meet the increasing demand for
our high quality retail, wholesale and export chicken products.
Contract growers on the Delmarva Peninsula grow the live chickens
for these operations. |
