Faith & Family Night 2011
Close to 5,000 fans were in attendance for this year’s Mountaire Faith & Family Night at Shorebirds Stadium in Salisbury, MD. The evening featured a baseball game between the hometown Delmarva Shorebirds and the visiting Hickory Crawdads, as well as a post game concert with up and coming local artists, The Reminders, and a fireworks show. The weather was perfect, and the inspiring performance put on by The Reminders, went along way in erasing the 8-1 loss by the Shorebirds.
Following the tough loss, Shorebirds pitcher, #47 Will Startup, spoke to the crowd on how faith has played a large role in his life. Startup, a former top minor league pitching prospect, suffered a career threatening injury in 2008 and has battled his way back into baseball, attributing much of his drive and success to his faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.
The Reminders, a trio consisting of John Thompson, Ed Shockley and Kevin Short, played from atop a portable stage set-up directly on home plate, and for 35 minutes captivated the audience with their faith based songs written about life here on the Delmarva Peninsula. Following the performance the skyline lit up with a brilliant fireworks display, capping a near perfect evening at the ballpark.
